The Vancouver-based company, which is also a licensed domain name registrar and application service provider, already hosts an interactive live audio streaming Web site complementing broadcast shows on CBC Radio One.
"We needed a scalable network infrastructure able to handle live streaming and immediately adapt, without prior notice, to spikes in traffic over 155 MB/ second. Since past shows are archived, reliability and security were also of utmost importance," Bert Cervo, technical manager of research and development at CBC Radio Canada, said in a release. "We chose NetNation for our media site, as we knew their multi-homed, load-balanced and high bandwidth network could fulfill our demanding, mission-critical requirements."
Upcoming events featured on the media site include: CBC Radio One's "The Early Edition" live from Whistler, B.C., the National Folk Alliance live from Vancouver, and Radio One's national show, "Global Village" live from Belgrade, Serbia.
